If you haven’t done the two-hour experience at Evil Genius, you haven’t lived in the LA Escape Room world yet! The first chapter of this story is Occam’s Apartment. The game master serves as an actor for the introduction only, and brings players to the door of Bill Occam’s apartment. Our game master did a really great job of making us feel immersed from the very beginning. Bill Occam is your friend who recently passed away, and you need to clean out his apartment before the police show up in one hour. While the theme is simple in this room, a modest one-bedroom apartment, it is really well done. It felt like you were in the LA apartment of a friend who may have had something secret going on. The puzzles were incredibly smart and even required us to use one of our 5 senses that we have never had to use in another escape room. Well done! The ending of this room flows seamlessly into the start of chapter two. It really gave us a renewed rush of adrenaline to jump into the second room! Each room had its own music that fits flawlessly into the experience and added to the full-immersion you can expect in these rooms. Both rooms also feature video that is both funny, useful, and unique. The more I think back on this room, the more I realize how incredibly smart it was. The theme is so simple, an apartment and then an art gallery, but both rooms found a way to make it to the top of my list. While each room can be booked on its own, I consider the two-hour experience to be an absolute must for any escape room enthusiast!

I did this room back to back with chapter 2 from Evil Genius, the art gallery and was blown away. The rooms decor is perfect, it really makes you feel like you're in Occam's apartment. The puzzles fit in well with the theme and didn't rely on tech. There was even cues throughtout the room to help build the suspense and urgency. Do yourself a favor and do all of Evil Geniuses rooms in LA. They are definitely top 5 for me!

Absolutely wonderful room. The production design is the star here, as it manages to take what should be a boring theme and puts in so many tiny details, giving you a sense of mystery about the setting and what might be possible inside. The story leading into the room was incredibly well done, and just another little touch that capped off a lovely and memorable experience.
